Lack of Total Rebate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was told by Travelers Advantage I would get a rebate of $50.00 on each of two (2) stays in a motel/hotel. I drove from Tampa, FL to Cleveland, OH about a week before Christmas to visit my brother. On the way I stopped at a Days Inn in Charlotte, NC, overnight. One week later, on my way back to Tampa, I stopped at the same Days Inn. A few days after I had arrived home, I sent, on two (2) different days, almost a week apart, copies of my receipts to Travelers Advantage to claim my two (2) $50.00 rebates. I received one (1). After waiting a while and not receiving the second $50.00, I phoned Travels Advantage and told them the situation, that I had received only one(1). They said their records showed they had sent the rebates required. and could do nothing further. So much for the promised two (2) rebates!!

Travelers Advantage turned into Shoppers Advantage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I booked a hotel through Wyndham and saw a pop up about Travelers Advantage. I called and got signed up for Travelers Advantage, paid the $1 fee, but never got any rebate materials in the mail like they said.

They told me I'd get 50+25 so a total of $75. I called back to find out what happened with my materials, they said I was never signed up for it. Instead, I was signed up for Shoppers Advantage. They kept on circulating my calls.

One lady named Sylvia pretended like she couldn't hear me, and hung up. Another guy said he's putting me on hold and hung up. I called Wyndham and they said they couldn't do anything about it because they did not enroll me. I called to cancel my Shoppers Advantage and they gave me a confirmation number that they cancelled it so I won't be getting charged the $16.99/fee or whatever it the fee is.

I also disputed the dollar charge with chase so they're aware of these scammers and to avoid being charged again from them. I'll have to keep looking out to make sure they don't charge again.

I was just referred to Travelers Advantage through Super 8 motels. Same story: sign up for $1 and give them your credit card number.

I like the math of s previous complainant.

Why pay $17.00 per month times 12 months for some sort of future discount (unknown) when people are saying they never get their two $50 checks! Screw them before they can ***!

Traverlers Advantage

I booked a rental car through Dollar and had to revise my pick up time with them. After speaking with the rep at Dollar I was passed over to their partner Travelers Advantage. I was in formed that I was eligible for a $50.00 rebate for booking with Dollar. I would be charged $1.00 and $16.99 a month after a 30 day trial period. After hanging up I thought about what I would be paying $203 a year for. You can book any airline, car rental or hotel room on the internet yourself. Also 5 days after I received a email from both Travelers Advantage and Shoppers Advantage stating that both would be hitting my credit card for $1.00 and $16.99 a month. I called immediately to cancel my membership with both. I never agreed to Shopper Advantage or was it mentioned by the rep when they were discussing the Travelers Advantage. Seems to be the same theme for all who spoke with these people.Ill keep my eye out to see if they charge me in the months to come.

I cancelled right after I signed up and they came back and charged my card several months later. These are one of those scammers that hope you don't see the small charge while they get your money until you notice. Master card is aware that they are a scam, but they let these guys get away with it. I cancelled my card and got another, and master card let them hook back up to the new card until I threaten law suit.

Not a bad experience, you just need to follow the rules...

I was actually on this site before, looking at the same reviews because I too had signed up for Traveler’s Advantage $1.00 fee + Shopper’s Advantage $1.00 fee (which is separate by the way, they do kinda trick you into it) because I had booked a hotel and they promised me that if I signed up I’d get $50 and another $25 rebate. I also read on this site that most people didn’t know what the $16 fee was because they swore they cancelled it or they didn’t get the rebate because they didn’t cancel it. However, I’m here to say that it actually worked for me and I got my check a couple days ago. I think the best way to really do it is to remember to cancel it a couple days before the day your membership expires. Call them up, be super nice, give them your member ID# and ask for a cancellation confirmation number. And no matter what they say to convince you, cancel it. Also, obviously, make sure you submit the rebate right when you get the materials to do so in your email. It’s really that simple.

I paid the $1.00 for the 30-day trial. Asking for $1.00 is just their fraudulent scheme to get your credit card information. They shared my credit information with Shoppers Advanatge without my permission. I have to canceled my credit card for the fear they sharing my credit card information to who knows whom. Don't believe a word they said.

Double check cancellation!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I signed up for traveler's advantage when I booked a motel room. $1. 30 day trial period. No big deal. The first thing that irritated me was the email confirming membership was over a week in coming. I understand that not everything is automatic, but it made me wonder if they do that so people will "forget" and not cancel immediately. I mulled over actually trying to get the rebate, but by the time I mailed it in, waited the 6-8 weeks to get it, then canceled, I would have paid for two months membership. (Based on others experiences of not having a "valid membership" and thus not getting rebate completed). I called to cancel. When I signed up, I was assured three times that to cancel, all I would have to do is call and cancel. Well, no. I called. Explained why I wanted to cancel. Listened to another sales pitch. Repeated that I wanted to cancel. Listened to a very slick pitch that almost leaves you with the membership, but you think you have canceled. Asked for written confirmation of canceling was told "we cannot do that." And that they would give me a cancellation confirmation number. I explained 3-4 times I wanted it in writing, and he kept expressing they couldn't do that. When I asked for a supervisor, he finally acknowledged that they could mail it to me in 3-5 weeks. Got the cancellation number. Finally. Came here to read if I was alone, and saw a review about shoppers advantage and a flag went up. Went trolling through my emails and, yep, there was that one. Called to cancel it, and started the whole "why would you cancel, your month isn't up yet" (which I have decided means - give it another week or two - forget about us and let us charge you for as long as possible.) Verified the amount charged to my card and got a Cancellation number AND requested it in writing. I am just hoping they haven't signed me up for any more of their "sister." If you choose to do this, just know they have set it up so YOU do most of the work and they make the money. And if you cancel, make sure you cancel EVERYTHING AND GET IT IN WRITING. but, save yourself the grief and just avoid the, altogether.

Where to start..... Well I had never heard of this place ever before. Until this past Thursday 7-28-2016, my husband decided to comb though our bank statement. Guess what he found a reaccuring charge of 16.99 to this travel ***, in which we never had signed up for. I had seen an offer for 2 rings 14.99 through Holster.com I made a purchase in 6-2014. A couple months go by and we find that there was a reaccuring fee for that company. I called cancelled every thing. Come to find out a couple days ago that Holster and Tri-allegent were some how u order one, and get the other. Holster cancelled and you *** kept charging us 16.99 a month from 6-2014 until 7-2016. I called to cancel and get my money back, my call was sent to,a supervisor Rick Jones. Hes sorry and but this and but that... He said he would credit 8 months, after charging me for 25 months. So you charged me total 424.75 dollars for a service diabled people on a fixed income did not order, sign up for, gave permission to charge our account, or even need to begin with. The supervisor "Rick Jones" didnt know who his boss was. He also couldnt give me a buisness license number. Not a name not anything but sent me to a number for the President of company... Only a recording no name for the president no number, only you will get a return call in two buisness days. I was also suppost to get refund returned in two buisness days. Havent seen that yet either. Tri-Allegent has not called. Come 7am central time Monday Aug 1st no call back, no money returned. I am going to take all this information I have dug up, and all addresses and the 5 new phone numbers to the BBB and see a lawyer about a class action law suit against this scam. I would really like to see someone go to jail. It begins in just a bit. BBB and bank. Get ready tri-scam co. Your done

I had a membership with Travelers Advantage which I was paying for monthly and never used it. Today I decided to call and see if I can get myself activated online to check out what the service has had to offer. I had a few co-workers and family members eager to know more about the service. I got in touch with technical support at first two attempts they were polite kind and courtesy courtesy to me about the third phone call in the 4th the 5th the 6th the 7th and the 8th I was hung up on each time the phone rings. I was very upset this is my day off from work I put a lot of time in trying to get things cleared out and this was the end result. So I cancelled my membership very very pissed off. If they wanted to have a lunch break they should have had someone to cover instead of just hanging up on me. Also may add when you first feel that your complaint it gives you the option to say that you're cancelling your membership but once you're ready to submit what you're pissed off about it doesn't give you that option anymore it's the book of light and deals for traveling. The only deal I can say I got was a headache and time loss from my day off from work.

I got an offer after purchasing some airline tickets last October, 2015 to join TA for $1 for 30 days. After asking numerous questions and being answered to my satisfaction, I decided to join. I must admit that I have been nothing but satisfied with TA. I was able to receive all of the benefits that I was promised for joining within weeks after traveling. To date, I am still a member of TA and still receive the 5% cash back on all of my travel that I book with them and full rebates for any checked bags that I pay for. I am not sure why so many people have problems with TA with regards to cancelling their memberships after the 30 day $1 period has ended. The one thing that I was repeatedly told during the sign-up was to make sure that you cancel prior to the 30 period or my credit card would be charged. This is my second time having a membership with TA and the first time I only joined to see if I would actually receive the benefits after cancelling the membership, well, I did. I said that the next time I purchased tickets and received this offer from TA, I would join and stay a member. Although we do not travel every month (we usually don't travel Jan - April due to my job) but when we do it makes up for paying the $16.99/month we get charged. Like with anything, one must follow the terms & condition as they are stated or issues will arise. I am a happy TA customer.

What a scam. I went online cancelled my membership and then stopped receiving mailings and emails, but they kept the membership active on the down low and kept taking my money then refused to refund it. I smell a class action lawsuit coming. I will be contacting a lawyer.

Does not honor cash back incentive

I joined after booking a motel and being transferred to receive an offer to get $50 off the cost of my motel stay. I was also given a toll-free number for cancelling any time, and the two $50 rewards were still mine to keep. After my motel stay and submitting the rebate and all the required information, including receipt, membership number, and rebate coupon, I received a note in the mail that the refund would not be honored, that they "could not verify membership information." I went online and immediately cancelled Travelers Advantage membership. Don't join, their promoters use high-pressure sales tactics and empty promises to bilk people out of money.

They've made a simple process frustrating

It is frustrating to not be able to book my own hotels or rental cars online unless I want to go the pre-paid, non refundable route. Have to call them and their system takes forever. I used to book my own on TA and could book 3 or 4 in the time it takes to have an agent answer the phone and book it through their system. Their agents often have a hard time listening to what is being asked. They are focused on reading all the required disclaimers I have heard hundreds of times Frequent travelers should not have to deal with all the legal disclaimers they read every time. Almost not worth the 5%

Travelers Advantage Membership Review from Seattle, Washington

I had the problem with them charging way later. After reading the same scenario in countless sites I read one guy wrote his state attorney generals office. I did that and took it one step further, I called my bank and told them the entire story of buying plane tickets the. Having to call and cancel and they said they did then I got charged again a month later for like 9 months. They put a stop payment on shoppers advange and opened s fraud claim and investigation. Between my state attorneys and the bank I just got a letter back from the state attorney office forwarding a letter from shoppers advantage refunding my money. It's not worth their time to mess with a large bank or a state government for a $170.00. So file a complaint with your state attorneys office and call your bank. From start to finish it took about two weeks to get my money. I hope this works for you. I didn't have a confirmation number when I canceled like most, so don't be discouraged. I hope this helps.
