Got sucked in with a $50 gift card after booking some flights, which we never got, then forgot it. $16.99 per month, not year like explained, continued until I notice them and call to cancel. They dont cancel and drop the amount to $9.99. Goes on again for a while until i notice it as the same, just a different amount. Call and cancel again. This time i have a cancellation email. Im embarrassed how long it took me to catch this but they have the tactics down pat. They charge every 28 days making it harder to catch it. Some months didn't have any charge, then 2 the next month. I just thought that they were online purchases. Banks will only go back 60 days to recover funds so dont fall for this scam.Bullshit

SCAM/DISHONEST

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

When I signed up they said I would be starting a trial for 1$ for travelers advantage until I checked email and noticed I was signed up for shoppers advantages well. When I called they said I had some 40$ credit towards shopping..I said that I never consented to that and they said oh it was the same day you signed up for travelers advantage...yeah that was annoying and I cancelled immediately and got my 1$ back.

Then they told me to wait for the email with paperwork that I have to send back to them to get the 50$ credit.

Low and behold I never got that email and they said oh well we will send you the paper by mail 7-10 days. When I stated I never received the email they said they cannot resend the email because it’s automatically generated (whatever that means) so basically they make it so difficult to even get your rebate they hope people forget about it and just take their money.

I cancelled both memberships and am still waiting for the paperwork to get my 50$ credit.

Very hard sell

Made a motel reservation. Got a very hard sell -- would not quit spieling, ignored "no, please, stop" over and over and over again. Kept pressing for email and other personal information just as though we were signing up for this thing we kept refusing. {{Redacted}}

No free bags with Travelers

Using a United Airlines credit card I am entitled to free checked bags. When I book through Travelers Advantage they pay United with their credit card and I end up having to pay for luggage despite paying for my ticket with my credit card that gives me free baggage. United says to deal with Travelers and Travelers says I have to deal with United, with both sides refusing to credit me the baggage fee. The supervisor was rude and kept explaining what happened even though I was well aware of what happened. He was complacent and offered no assistance whatsoever except that I could call customer service on Monday. Customer service told me to call United. I have been a member of Travels for over 16 years and will now be cancelling my membership, which is basically what the supervisor said I had to do since he kept saying he would not refund me my baggage fee. I am a WWII veteran and am 91 years old and have never been so condescended to as I was with this rude supposed supervisor.

Haven't recieved an email

I was told that I pay $1 to recieve an email to get a $50 rebate and another $25 rebate, which I stayed at the worst hotel ever in my entire life. The man whom checked me in was rude. He put me in a room which the TV was not working no remote and the phone in the room was not working. A young lady named Meagan helped us switch room, which the bathroom had no title and spider webs everywhere in the bathroom. I would never recommend this hotel. I would like my rebate forms and cancel whatever I paid for.

Unusually good experiences

Hi- I've used this service for years, first under the name CitiTravel and now Travelers Advantage. It is one of the only ways that I know of to get a 5% discount across the board for flights, car rentals and hotels. Their prices are competitive and you can use AAA and other discounts in combination. I've also used it for expensive vacation packages which saved me hundreds of dollars at a time. They definitely had more valuable offers in the past such as money back on restaurants and occasional coupons that provided a bigger rebate if you booked during a particular period and they don't seem to do that too much anymore. However, I find that it's still worth paying for this membership each month. I just wanted to share a counterbalancing point of view.

SCAM - someone shut them down already!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Made a hotel reservation on July 3, and decided to leverage this Travelers Advantage "deal" to pay $1 for a 30-day trial in order to receive 2-$50 rebates: 1 for the current reservation, and one for a future reservation. The rebate forms were supposed to be emailed to me. They never were. When I called to complain, they insisted they were emailed on July 20 (not true). (Additionally, I have been given different dates the two times I have called thus far). They also insist they are not able to email the form to me again because their system doesn't allow it (because it's 1995, apparently). They offered to mail them to me, twice thus far. I have not received the form, but I did receive yet another useless welcome letter. I am pretty certain this company gives customers the run-around in order to make a buck off of you signing up, and then again when they sell your information. If someone starts a civil action, I will be there with bells on.

Wyndham should be ashamed of themselves having these thieves affiliated with them. Got rooked into this scam when I called Wyndham! Agreed just to get off phone-they were relentless! Then I discover I'm in Shoppers Advantage at another $16.99/mo too? Took many phone calls to opt out of these scams, and I'm not sure I am out. Never got any rebates like promised-even though I sent in their form and hotel receipt. Liars!

Travelers advantage is awful!!!!!'

Contacted them in July they said they cancelled my subscription but they continued to charge me three times after, luckily I had a confirmation number but they continued to argue that there were two separate items, which NO ONE ever mentioned. When I said cancel my subscription they said it was done in July. Then we call again have to scream to get a manager who finally credited our money, well we will see if I get it back. So frustrating DONT use them, it is a forever bill if you sign up, unless you want to call constantly and deal with being on hold!!!!

dispute the charges with your credit card company. Send you cancellation in writing. Make sure to provide your documentation.

July 11, 2017 Because my story is the same here we go again.. On June 22 2017 I was told If I enrolled I would get 3-$50.00 rebates. Related: Travelers Advantage - Traveler advantage scam I was supposed to get a form e-mailed to me to fill out and send with my receipt from the hotel within 30 days to get the rebate. I was supposed to be charged $1.00 for the first 30 days and about $17.00 a month after that. I had 30 days to cancel. I endured the lady on the phone trying to sell me on other stuff for 15 minutes. When I got home there was no e-mail waiting for me. When I called to complain I was told I never enrolled. Best part they said it was only offered once but I could go thur all the processing without receiving the rebates. Why ?! Would I...

Total scam!!!!!

On June 22 2017 I made a hotel reservation thru Travelers Advantage. I could not really afford the room rate but was told If I enrolled I would get a $50.00 rebate.

I was supposed to get a form e-mailed to me to fill out and send with my receipt from the hotel within 30 days to get the rebate.

I would never have paid $136.00 for a room without the promise of that $50.00 rebate. I am really, really sad about this and will be eating less this month because of this scam.

Waste of time, awful reps, worst customer "service" - save your $1

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
TA lures you with a coupon to save $25 on your next hotel booking, then, as you call, they claim to increase the rebate to a total of $75, but all they do is collect your credit card and personal information. I don't see anything wrong with signing up for $1 for the first month, get my rebate, and then cancel. This is what they enthusiastically promise you - the rebate is yours, even if you cancel after the first month. You don't have to pay the $20 monthly membership fee if you cancel before your first 30 days are up. However, there is a catch - you have to book first, print the receipts from your hotel or booking agency, and then mail it to an address they will provide in an email they promise to send you after your $1 cleared first-month-member-fee cleared. Not surprisingly, although my cc was approved, I never got the information email. The call agent reads from a script, is unable to respond outside of the script, and apparently is forced to stay with the script through the end. I hung up on the first guy because I didn't have time for a 30 min. phone call, which I had told him, still he tried to hurry through everything although my time was limited. This is not a 5 min. transaction! When I called back, the second person was informed that I had almost made it to the finish line with guy number 1 (incidentally, both foreign speakers of English with thick accents) so he could just cut to the chase, but he was unflexible, no ma'am, no can do. He confirmed that I was signed up, cc approved, and I would receive the email containing all the pertinent member info as soon as the $1 cleared. After a couple of days, nothing happened so I contacted "Customer Care" at Travelers Advantage, got a bot response (the "someone will be with you shortly"-kind) and now, five days later, nothing. It's a scam, people. They collect $1 from millions and then $20 more from people who forget to cancel. Go with AAA. This company, TravelerAdvantage, is a waste of your time and money.
