Traveler's Advantage Lied about Cancellation Date, Wyndam wrong to be promoting this shady company to get more bookings

Traveler's Advantage IS A SCAM, AND WYNDAM JUST LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!! I also signed up for Traveler's Advantage when trying to book a hotel room through Wyndam. I would have never done so if it hadn't been for the Wyndam representative, nor would I have paid the Wyndam price if it hadn't been for the promise through Traveler's Advantage of saving around $40 on the price of the stay for signing up. It's funny, because I tried Wyndam because of a good previous experience. So much for that! The TA rep. told me the last day to cancel my membership without paying the first month's fee was on Dec. 27. Today is Dec. 27, and when I call, it says they're closed. SCAM!!!

This is a freaking scam. They changed me four times in two months and hadn't told me that I was signing up for two services. I had gotten my rebate but they just kept taking money from me. They told me that they will refund me two of those charges so let's see if they actually do. They kept trying to get me to stay with them by offering a lower fee. Don't fall into that. They are a total scam and a waste of your time. Do not do it even for the rebate! It's too much of a hassle to try to work with them.

Travelers Advantage/Shoppers Advantage are *** companies based upon very little actual services to help "travelers and shoppers". It would appear the entire thing is just contacted out to call centers who have the job of selling you and preventing you from ever canceling. If you have given them your card information you are better off just cancelling your card and moving on, it took me a week to get a new card mailed to me and a major pain in the ***.

Terrible Scam! Load of ***!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I booked reservations at a Knights Inn in California and was offered a $50 mail in rebate coupon, that they would mail to me so that I can mail it off to them, for my upcoming stay and an additional $50 off a future stay, which I never received either, it sounded like a good idea so I said sure why not. I was told it would be $1 for the first month or $17 if I cancelled within the first month which isn't a big deal, paying $17 to get $100 in deals sounded great! But time went on and I honestly forgot about it until I checked my bank account and saw transactions of $17 being taken out monthly for Travelers Advantage AND Shoppers Advantage a system I did NOT sign up for. With Travelers Advantage I received a card with my name and member number on it which allowed me to sign up through the website and easily cancel it but now I'm pissed and have no clue how to cancel the Shoppers Advantage that I didn't even sign up for! I will be claiming fraud on this service and hoping to get back the $70-$100 they've taken from me. If not at least get the $35 that was taken from me through Shoppers Advantage since I did knowingly sign up for Travelers and unwittingly kept pushing off cancellation of the service.

Never got my 50.00 redate, but they double charged my card two times. I called them to cancel the membership and he would not let me because he just kept talking about their site. I had to get a new credit card so they could not charge it any longer.

Scam to collect a dollar and if you forget even better they charge another 17.99

They sell and promote a membership which promises $ 50 + another $ 25 additional cash back. Initially you agreed to be charged they .99 cents for the first month and then $ 15.99 thereafter unless you cancel. According to the teller u don’t have to be active member to claim voucher. If you read fine print on the voucher you have to be active member and takes 6-8 weeks to get it redeemed. So technically to get back $ 50 but you have to dish out 2 months membership dues. Do the math, if you cancel right away they made a .99 cents of you for doing absolutely nothing. Couple busy customers that will forget to cancel will get milked as well until they figure out what is going on. Sometimes I think I have to get myself a little scam like this and collect money, but that would not be moral. I don’t usually write reviews because I am very busy, but I am so frustrated off companies like this taking advantage of people and stealing hard earn money I had to warn people. Thanks to the power of internet that we can write and warn people, on the other hand is also a curse since opens a gate way to scams like this. So what every you hear or offered is a lie and if it is too good to be true it is not.

This is a Scam.... Beware!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I booked an airline ticket with Allegient Air - and was transferred to a Rep who said if I sign up or Travelers Advantage I would get a $50 rebate on my airline ticket and could cancel at any time. I never received a rebate so I called and cancelled my subscription to Travelers Advantage but they continued to withdraw membership fees from my account. I called the number attached to the debit and it was Shoppers Advantage! They claim that I had subscribed to this also which I had not. This is a scam, but they have sneaky ways to get by with doing this. They claim that you agreed to this via an email. BEWARE!

Unauthorized charges

I signed up for Traveler's Advantage when renting a car and have had the service for a few months. My mistake, but mine to deal with.

I recently checked my credit card balance and it seems that the folks over there thought I should also pay for Shopper's Advantage; they had charged my card for a month of service at $16.99 unannounced to me. I called them up and inquired why they thought it would be OK to charge me without authorization, responding "it's in the terms you signed". Refund was not possible.

This is bad practice and bad faith. I have confirmation numbers being mailed to my house but we'll see how that goes.

Any luck? I'm in a similar boat, but I didn't notice the shoppers advantage chargers for over a year.

I stupidly signed up for travelers advantage, but definitely not shoppers advantage. I also don't have any paperwork or emails from them, so I don't have proof that I never signed up for it.

So pissed off. I signed up for this and was told I would be receiving a gift card in the mail for trying this company. At no point in time was I told that I had to spend the $50 first and then get reimbursed. They then managed to scam me into the "gas" coupon also. Which isn't even valid this year and is multiple coupons though out the year. That one they managed to just throw in as a benefit but I still had to sign up for the company. I would not use these companies even if I liked them because I feel they tricked me in the beginning and have a poor idea of how to treat and keep their customers.

Bait and switch

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I reserved a hotel room, and the hotel told me I could get a 450 rebate with Travelers Advantage if I enrolled. The hotel connected me to Travellers advantage. I was about to enroll, and asked if they could help if I as outside the USA, and needed hotel/air r car in the USA. At that point, they told me they refused to enroll me because they don't want to take phone calls from outside the USA I explained that I am a citizen, and reside in the US, that I only wanted to learn about ho their services work. They said, they refuse to give me a membership because I said I travel outside the USA from time to time! I spoke o Lorie Smith the enrollment supervisor, and when she refused to give me the membership, Josh Ferrell got on the phone confirming this, refusing enrollment. I believe this is a bait and switch, frivolous and arbitrary service, so I am also complaining to the consumer's affairs dept. of Iowa, where they are registered. In light of this, I lost the $50 rebate for my hotel stay, so overall, they are scam artists.

ACH activity

I had joined thinking it would be a good thing but when I cancelled the representative argued with me. I told her i was going to cancel her card. She said find. Well I thought that since I had a new card they couldn't process it. But they did. Some merchants have that ability I was told. So I thought that the same about was for something else when it was actually Travelers Advantage. Don't trust them and don't assume it was cancelled. They took money for years but I assumed it couldn't be done. Check your statements and CLOSE AND CANCEL the card so they can't forward it to the new card.

Mail in Rebate Beware

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was told by the Wyndham reservation person that this program would take $50 of my Wyndham reservation I just made.

When i got the Travelers Advantage rep, she told me they would double to offer to $100.

Then while she tried to enroll me , when I asked if they would take the $100 of my Wyndham Hotel bill right away, she said no.

It is some BS mail in rebate program because they know people forget to mail in forms...

#Wyndham should be ashamed to align themselves with a program like this. And also for not properly training their staff on terms and conditions.

If I wasn't part of a conference, I would stay elsewhere....

Thank you for posting about this and because your complaint, I just cancelled the membership for both Shoppers and Travels Advantage. Now the funny part is I also, call Wyndham about the site and she said that she had no clue about a membership.

How do you not know about the site?

Crazy.. Thank you again.
